I made my Cursillo on Feb. 14-17, 1986, at Mt. Mary Immaculate in Lafayette:
Cursillo #34, Decuria of St. James!
I graduated from the University of Pangasinan, Dagupan City, Philippines with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. I am a Registered Civil Engineer and currently, I work for one of the cities in the Bay Area as Engineering Services Manager.
My wife Pat, a sister Cursillista and I are parishioners of Holy Rosary Church in Antioch. Both of us were born and raised in Pangasinan, Philippines. We are blessed with 4 children: Melissa married to Don; Marlene, Matthew and Monica. They are now all young adults.
We are active members in our parish as Eucharistic Ministers and I am a Brother Knight of the Knights of Columbus – Antioch Council of which I was a past Grand Knight. We are also one of the original members of the Most Holy Rosary Fil-Am club, of which I was a past president. The early beginning of the club was encouraged by Father Carlos Davalos, our parish priest, to bring visibility of the Filipinos and encouraged participation in the church activities.
Over the past 26 years of being a Cursillista, I have served as a Team Representative, an Ultreya Coordinator, a Rollista, a Vice Rector, and eventually the Rector of Cursillo # 47 in 1993. I now serve as FCC's Lay Director from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015. I will take to heart what you have entrusted me for three years as we walk side by side on our spiritual journey.
I continue to serve and be active in our movement because like a flat tire, I needed that very air to keep me going; like a basket ball, Cursillo gave me that bounce! I serve because I want to continue my spiritual formation, a deepening of my spirituality through
the Cursillo journey.
I love and revere the Lord and His guidance I seek. I hope to leave that legacy to my children and future grand children, because life without faith is meaningless. I want to be a fisher of men, to bring people to God through the Cursillo way: make a friend, be a friend, and bring that friend to Christ.
To the end, my wife and I will stay because we cherish the friendships that we developed through the years with many of you in the Cursillo.
