I am Sis. Editha Sia Guevarra of Cursillo #33, May 1984 at Mount Mary Immaculate, Lafayette, CA, Decuria of St. Monica.
I was an active Cursillita for a few years after my Cursillo weekend. However, I took a 11-year sabbatical from serving the Cursillo weekend to raise our daughter, the love of my life. During those few years, when I attended some Ultreyas and other Cursillo functions, I experienced some kind of hunger, a hunger to be actively involved in the Cursillo again. I felt like a car, running out of gas needing refueling.
Since I became active again, I have served the Cursillo weekends in various capacities for seven consecutive years and have been involved in many Cursillo activities. I started serving as a Lector and a Holy Communion Minister at our parish, the Old St. Mary’s Church in Oakland and now at the Cathedral of Christ the Light.
Being the current FCC Treasurer is challenging because I thought I was done being a Treasurer. It is as if I am re-living my being the Class Treasurer, year after year, from 2nd grade thru senior year of high school. However, I have considered this a blessing…to use my God-given talents.
I have been employed with the Contra Costa County Health Services Department in Martinez for 23 years, working at the Finance Unit…hoping to retire soon.
DeColores!
